From five tools, informative tool is the first tool that we were introduced to.
Informative tool refers to a vast repository of information or content to learners on a particular topic or subjects.
The purpose of an informative tool is to help educate, inform, or guide learners by presenting information in clear, concise ,
understandable manner and stay informed about a specific topic, issue or area of interest.
It is important to choose the most appropriate source based on the specific information needs and
the level of accuracy and reliability required.
Informative tools play an essential role in teaching and
learning :
- as they provide easy access to a wealth of information and resources that can support the learning process.
- Informative tools can help to facilitate learning by providing easy access to information, personalized learning experiences, and collaborative opportunities.
- They can support students in developing their knowledge and skills and can help to create more engaging and effective learning environments.
Some of the examples of the Informative tools include:
- Text-based (books, articles, etc.)
- Visual tools(maps, charts, flow charts, etc.)
- Interactive tools(interactive websites, VR, AR, etc.)
- Digital tools(social media, mobile apps, etc.)
- Reference tools (encyclopedias, dictionaries, etc.)
Informative tool plays a pivotal role in education because it helps learners to better understand complex topics by providing clear explanations, examples, and visuals. For instance, by displaying the maps to locate the places and explain possible features can help students to comprehend and remember the content as well as the places. In addition, it allow learners to access information that is relevant to their individual needs and interests. Moreover, informative tools are often available online, which means that learners can access them at any time and from any location.
What are some of the sources we retrieve information from?
Well, there are numerous sources to get information, informative tools serves a great purpose in educational teaching and learning field. I strongly feel the need of integrating informative tool in the classroom as it encourages students to explore, think critically, and further expand their knowledge and
skills on learning concepts.
It also provide learners to evaluate the resources (validated) on the internet and raw materials for students to organize, reorganize, compare and construct.
How do we integrate informative tool in the classroom?
Well, informative tools are one of the effective tools in teaching and learning. Therefore to integrate in the classroom, a teacher must provide an information/reference/content for the students in the beginning or during or after the activity, analyze, synthesize and manipulate information provided, ask the students to construct their own knowledge and meaning, and Write their understanding on the information provided.
There are various formats of informative tool which are as follows:
- Text- what is a text?
- Text is a human-readable sequence of characters and the words they form that can be encoded into computer-readable formats such as ASCII.
- Text can be refer to the characters that are used to create letters, words, sentence, and paragraphs.
- We use text for most of the time as it not only boosts vocabularies but helps in reading, develop comprehension skills, and gather information, On the other hand, we communicate our thoughts and ideas through texts. Moreover, texts can be retained for long duration.
- text is one of the powerful tool that conveys a deeper meaning or significant messages.
- There are countless software or apps that uses text like social media apps, google suite, Microsoft word, etc.

what are images?
- Refers to visual representation of information such as drawings,
- pictures, graphs, logos, photographs, etc.
- Generally we can see the image format such as jpeg, bmp, png, gif, etc.
- Images are powerful. visuals quickly transmit information to our brain.
- They trigger our emotions an also help us learn and remember.
- Images can capture attention, evoke emotion and easily convey large amounts of information in a relatively short period of time.
3. Audio
What is audio?
Audio is the third informative tool we learned.
Audio can be described as any sound or noise in a range human ear is capable of hearing.
One of the most common audio type file format used is mp3.
Listening to audio will not only help improve creativity and imagination but also improve listening skills. Moreover, it strengthens comprehension and improve vocabulary. so, try incorporating audio or sound in the teaching and learning to see the the change.
What is a video?
We watch diverse content clips or recordings in the form of moving images using multimedia devices like television, phones and etc be it for educational or entertainment purposes. those are videos.
Let students watch videos for the complex topics as it will further:
- Activate learners interest in learning.
- Retain the information for a longer period of time.
- Videos create multi sensory learning experiences with its ability to combine camera footage, animation, graphics, text, and audio.
- It makes content widely accessible.
- Enables micro learning.
5. Animation
Animation is a process of giving the illusion of movement to drawings, models, or inanimate objects.
Animations are attractive which helps learners to understand the concept better.
Example ; animation on water cycle using ppt slides.
It builds creativity in learners and improve skills and knowledge.
animations can help visual learners learn in quicker way than other tools.
It refer to the combination of the text, image , sound ,
animation, video ,etc.
Generally a graphic is an image or
visual representation of an object. Therefore, computer graphics are simply
images displayed on a computer screen.
•
Graphics such as image,
animations, videos supplement text information's.
• Promote the visual aids that can better help you communicate your ideas.
Let me take you through my experiential learning to explore on the informative tool , creating digital learning resources using simulation lesson on power point on the topic on pollution for the grade level V.
The core purpose of creating the simulation lesson on the pollution is to realize the cause and effect and come up with proper plans to mitigate those issues. By incorporating various forms such as text, images, audio, video and graphics, which helps in catering to diverse learning styles, enhancing engagement, facilitating comprehension, improving communication, and promoting information retention. For instance, some students may prefer visual learning through images and graphics, while others may learn better through auditory. including multiple modalities ensures that students have diverse pathways to engage with and understand the content. Instead of explaining the the topic pollution though traditional method of teaching, simulation lesson can boost their understanding . Likewise, the images and videos represent the causes, effects, and solutions of pollution in a way that is engaging to understand.
Students will be able to analyze and evaluate their contribution to pollution in the environment empowering them to become informed and active participants in the efforts to address environmental changes.
Creating simulation involves integrating various informative formats. In the process of creating simulation lesson on power point, first thing I have learned is how to make transition appearing one after another on single page. Secondly, I learned to sequence the animation based on the timing and the order of information.
I would like to share the processes for creating single page simulation lesson:
1. Firstly I gathered relevant information such as images, text, sound and video from internet on my topic "Pollution".
2. After that I proceeded with editing and analyzing of the text, image, transition and animation on the power point.
3. Drag the blue rectangle shape on the power point and wrote the topic "Pollution" , Subject :Social Studies, Class: V on firstly slide of the power point.
4. I added the animation for the topic, subject and class for pollution concept. After that, I dragged another blue rectangle shape and hid the first slide of the power point
5. At the animation pane, I have clicked on "With Previous" animations
6. Repeated the process on the transition and sequencing
7. Play and apply on power point show to run or execute the simulation lesson.
